You are not alone

Your story didn’t start the way you imagined. Your connection can still be beautiful.

Maybe you expected a sleepy baby on your chest, not a plastic crib surrounded by wires. Maybe you thought breastfeeding would be instinctive, not something you’d do through a pump and tiny syringes.

None of this is your fault. And you are not behind.

Nurture & Nectar wraps evidence-based lactation care in softness and realism—so you can protect your milk supply, nourish your baby now, and keep the door open for breastfeeding later if and when it’s right for you.

What NICU moms quietly tell me:

  • “I’m scared my body is failing my baby.”

  • “I don’t know how often to pump or what’s ‘normal’ for NICU.”

  • “Every nurse says something different—I’m overwhelmed.”

  • “I want to be present with my baby, not tied to the wall pumping.”

If these feel familiar, come as you are. We are here for you.

Nurture & Nectar Lactation

A calm, realistic breastfeeding roadmap for NICU life

At Nurture & Nectar, we help you focus on protecting your milk supply, supporting your mental health, and gently preparing for feeding at breast or bottle—on your baby’s timeline.

What we offer:

  • A free NICU mom pumping guide to help you establish and maintain milk supply long term

  • Support that does not pressure or judge

  • Evidence-based tips from a NICU RN, IBCLC, and mom of 3 on navigating breastfeeding and pumping in the NICU

  • Unique products designed by a RN, IBCLC, and mom of 3 to help you along this journey

Is this right for you?

  • Your baby is in the NICU now or coming home soon.
  • You’re pumping, combo feeding, or considering formula and want non-judgmental guidance.
  • You want someone outside the hospital system to help you make sense of conflicting advice.
  • You crave a calm voice that centers your mental health as much as your milk supply.

Questions NICU moms often ask

What if I'm not making enough milk for my baby?

Most NICUs have donor breastmilk available for preemies as a backup until mom is able to establish milk supply. If you're struggling with low supply, baby might need donor milk or formula to help them grow, but they can still receive all of the benefits from whatever milk you're able to provide, too!

Will my NICU baby be able to breastfeed?

Yes! Most preemies can start learning how to breastfeed in the hospital, and can continue to breastfeed once home. Breastfeeding is a learned skill that needs to be practiced. In the meantime, baby might need to continue bottles/tube feedings until this skill is mastered.

What if I’m not sure I want to breastfeed long term?

You are welcome here. This is a judgment-free space. My goal is to help you make informed choices that feel sustainable and kind to your mental health, whether that leads to exclusive pumping, combo feeding, or formula.
